Local Outreach
Compassion Projects
Throughout the calendar year, our local efforts focus on becoming a church brings Jesus' compassion, kindness and healing to the city of Grand Rapids. Some of our most successful efforts have been in providing basic services to single moms across the county. Several times a year, the Vineyard hosts Servefest events that supply single moms with clothing, food, auto maintenance, cosmetology service, and other seasonal items. This year, we're also launching a monthly Mom's Night Out for single moms. At this new monthly dinner, we're pulling out all the stops to let single moms know Jesus' love. We've also partnered with a local organization, Bethany Christian Services, to provide accommodations for a Rwandan refugees. During the school year, we're building a partnership with a local public school to provide reading mentoring and services in the neighborhood. Many of our home groups are taking on smaller projects throughout the year.
Kindness Outreach
During our short Michigan summers, we take to the streets to make Kent County a better place for everyone. For the past several years, we've delivered ice-cold bottled water at a variety of community events, from Rockford Start of Summer festival to the 4th of July and Celebration on the Grand fireworks displays. On any given summer night, you might spot a Vineyard teenagers cleaning bathrooms at a gas stations, a Vineyard family giving away refreshments at a sporting event, or a group of empty nesters volunteering for security at a local parade. Its all part of our mission to "live Jesus' life together," bringing God's love to our city. Some of the larger events are listed on our calendar.
